NMAT MBA Exam
NMAT or NMAT by GMAC is a national-level entrance test conducted for MBA admissions at NMIMS University and other reputed B-Schools in India as well as abroad. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies conducted NMAT until GMAC took over the authority. NMAT is designed to keep the test-takers convenience in mind.
NMAT Exam Pattern:
The NMAT exam is a computer-based test (CBT) conducted over a specified testing window. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and has three sections:
- Language Skills: This section assesses the candidate’s proficiency in the English language and consists of questions on grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension,
- Quantitative Skills: This section evaluates the candidate’s mathematical and quantitative It includes questions on topics like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, etc.
- Logical Reasoning: This section tests the candidate’s analytical and logical reasoning It comprises questions on critical reasoning, deductive reasoning, data sufficiency, etc.
Exam Duration: The NMAT exam is of 120 minutes (2 hours) in duration. Each section has a designated time limit, and candidates can move back and forth between sections within the overall time limit.
Exam Eligibility: To be eligible for the NMAT exam, candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university or institution. There is no age limit or specific percentage requirement to appear for the exam.
Exam Retake: Candidates have the option to retake the NMAT exam up to two additional times during the testing window. The best score out of the attempts is considered for the final selection process.

NMAT 2023: 8 Key Changes
- No Late Registration Date and No Late Fee: Unlike the previous years, No late registration fee will be charged as you are not allowed to apply after the last date of Registration, although retake options are open.
2. Two Testing Modes: GMAC has introduced Online Proctored Exam from Home along with the Centre Based Online Exam. Candidates have the option to take the test either at the test center with social distancing protocols or to take the online proctored exam from the comfort of their home.
3. Longer Testing Window: NMAT 2023 has a longer testing window of 75 days.
4. Long Registration Window: NMAT has a long registration and application window of more than three months starting from August and going upto November 2023.
5. Fewer Questions with the same Test Duration: NMAT 2023 consists of 108 questions instead of 120 questions earlier, while the exam duration remains the same at 120 minutes.
6. Equal Sectional Weightage: All the 3 sections in NMAT 2023 have equal weightage.
7. Negative Marking in NMAT 2023: There will be no negative marking on the NMAT question paper.
8. Check Score Immediately after the Exam: The facility is available for instant score preview and official scorecard within 48 hours of the exam for Candidates and Schools. The NMAT 2023 Scorecards can be downloaded within 48 hours of taking the NMAT exam. Besides, you will be informed once Scorecard is available for download. The scorecards can be downloaded till March 31, 2024.

NMAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria:
The NMAT by GMAC eligibility criteria 2023 depends upon the application/admission eligibility criteria of the respective MBA College. However, even though there are no specific NMAT 2023 eligibility criteria, there are a few basic parameters in NMAT by GMAC eligibility criteria 2023 that an applicant requires to fulfill to appear in the NMAT exam. These are:
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree
- Percentage of minimum marks in graduation should be as per the requirement of MBA college or equivalent
- Candidates in the final year of Graduation also fulfill NMAT by GMAC 2023 Eligibility criteria and can apply for NMAT by GMAC 2023
- If selected, the final-year candidates will need to comply with the graduation certificate/degree submission requirement of the MBA college by the last date as prescribed by the
- Candidates who have completed a professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) or are waiting for the result can also
- NMAT eligibility does not impose any age bar to appear in NMAT 2023
- The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution.
- In the case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/ institution by its eligibility
- If any University/institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100 as per the MBA college eligibility
- Mere fulfillment of minimum NMAT eligibility criteria 2023 will not ensure consideration for shortlisting by the.
